We are always conscious of the need to be considerate to our neighbours and the public, and this is especially reflected in Grand Union which achieved a Considerate Constructors Scheme Excellent rating and won a National Bronze Site Award, recognising that our site has made a great contribution towards improving the image of construction.
We recognise that the responsible procurement of building materials can improve the sustainability of our supply chain and ultimately our buildings, which is why we ensured 100% of the timber used was FSC Certified.
We are committed to minimising the amount of site waste and are proud to state that 100% of the construction waste from the Grand Union development was diverted from landfill.
background
The Grand Union site lies within an "Area for Regeneration" allocated by the London Plan. Historically, the site used to be a single storey light industrial park and Workspace identified that it was under-utilised due to out of date employment accommodation and the extreme low density in relation to surrounding development. Workspace obtained mixed-use planning permission and built the 6 storey mixed use building providing commercial, retail and residential floor space, with parking and landscaping. The provision of these uses within the development create a truly sustainable mixed use scheme which enables people to live, work and shop in one location.
