Fall in love with Mare Street Studios in Hackney
Situated in a former furniture factory and Victorian warehouse, Mare Street Studios pays tribute to its roots with an uber-stylish industrial feel. Original exposed brickwork sits alongside an eco-friendly and biodiverse green roof, with concrete floors throughout and imposing steel columns in the main entrance.
Like all of our Workspace locations across the capital, Mare Street Studios has its own bespoke design aesthetic. You can find bright and airy light-filled spaces lined with sleek Metro tiles and the occasional pop of neon. Chic yet cosy and welcoming, this contemporary space is amassed with lounge areas, perfect for team catch ups or creating that first impression for clients. Complete with a spectacular rooftop terrace and atrium garden, both with gorgeous outdoor seating, you and your guests can take advantage of those warm, sunnier days.
Of course, Mare Street Studios has its own cafe, with coffee, breakfast bowls and brunch supplied by local family run Italian deli Franze & Evans. If you fancy stretching your legs you won’t go wanting for a decent caffeine hit in the local area. Stroll down the cobbles of Broadway Market and pick up a flat white at Climpson's & Sons or a punchy piccolo at Hermanos Colombian Coffee Roasters.
Broadway Market offers everything from coffee table art books at Donlon Books to high end seafood at Fin & Flounder fishmongers, while you can grab cocktails at the fabulous Off Broadway or a pint at the Cat & Mutton – where the outdoor tables are perfectly placed for people watching.
If Mare Street Studios’ rooftop terraces dotted with lush meadow flowers aren’t green enough for you, then London Fields is right next door: a popular park with a cricket pitch, tennis courts and its very own lido for a refreshing lunchtime dip. There’s also a hidden pétanque area if you’re seeking a daytime distraction.
Dining options are almost endless. From traditional Vietnamese cuisine at Green Papaya and Tre Viet to authentic Turkish feasts at Anatolia, Mare Street is a foodie’s paradise. Seek out the railway arch that’s home to the E5 Bakehouse and pick up pastries as well as Mediterranean style lunches. If you’re looking to impress, there’s the elegant and intimate Pidgin on Wilton Way while Richmond Road’s Lardo offers high-end Italian with oodles of natural wine.
Even closer is Mare Street Market, a one-stop lifestyle experience with a Flying Horse Coffee outpost, Stranger Than Paradise record shop, House of Lady Muck luxury nail studio and Rebel Rebel florist as well as a deli and sit-down restaurant. It’s so good you might struggle to get back to work, so consider this your warning.
When work is done – or if you think a cheeky beer might help the creative process – visit one of London Fields’ many pubs. Our favourites are the Spurstowe Arms for its well above average snack game, the chilled out Prince Arthur for its exciting food pop-ups and Pub on the Park for its sprawling beer garden.
All this and Mare Street Studios is super easy to get to. With spot-on transport links, it’s just a stone’s throw from London Fields station on the overground – which is seven minutes from Liverpool Street station. There’s also a bus stop directly outside the space with connections to all over the city as well as ample cycle routes, including the Q2 Quietway.
