Redevelopment in Wood Green
Today the Chocolate Factory is home to an eclectic range of customers, from luxury wallpaper designers to trendy streetwear brands. However, the building had a previous life as a factory, manufacturing sweets and confectionary towards the end of the 19th century.
The redevelopment of The Chocolate Factory will upgrade 38,000 sq. ft. of space, carefully designed to preserve most of the old structure and give a second life to its unique historical features, such as the historic façade, exposed bricks and ironwork. This helped us maintain the site’s heritage while drastically reducing the project’s carbon emissions.
Operational energy and carbon reduction are also central to the project’s design, which includes high-performing windows and insulation, as well as the installing decarbonised heat pumps.
The project is part of a wider regeneration scheme in the neighbourhood, including 230 residential homes and 72 affordable housing units with a new square and beautiful landscape improvements.
The redevelopment of The Chocolate Factory is a perfect example of how preserving the heritage of a building goes hand in hand with enhancing its environmental performance.
